Floods
What is a flood?
A flood is when an area of land which is usually dry suddenly gets covered in a large amount of water.
What causes a flood?
- Too much rain
- Very large storms
- Water from a sea, river or ocean being pushed onto land
How do floods affect shelters?
- Soaks houses with water and destroys the wood they were built with as well as the belongings inside
- Poisons get carried in the water which spread throughout shelters
- Destroys soil and grass which impacts animal shelters
- Small shelters can be washed away
